Sandbox can't bind non-loopback ports

Last updated 05/11/2026 · sandbox, dev-env, networking

In the sandboxed terminal, binding a listener to a bare :PORT (e.g. :8080) fails with “failed to lookup address information”; loopback binds (127.0.0.1:8080) work. Always use an explicit loopback address for dev servers.

Related sandbox behaviour: a detached launch via nohup ... & returns exit code 1 from the terminal tool (trailing &) - ignore it and verify with pgrep/ss/logs.

Model-specific env gotchas for running parasanoid in this sandbox are in parasanoid (Env gotchas section), not duplicated here.
